MUSIC TATTOOING BEEKEEPING

The last year “plus” has been a blur to say the least. Between the learning/writing/recording process of Gaining Purpose Through Passionate Hatred (Metal Blade Records) with Twitching Tongues and the touring that followed the release of that album, as well as learning songs and getting prepared for touring with Wear Your Wounds following the release of the self titled album which lead to the “Live at the BBC” album (Both released via Deathwish Inc.)… I guess you could say that a lot has happened since the summer of 2017.

In hindsight I really can’t get over how fast everything went by and how much ground was covered in that time, and although there were DEFINITELY moments that seemed to drag by and feel like they were the WORST of times (as there occasionally has to be), I still can’t wait to see what this next year brings. As I write this, Wear Your Wounds is gearing up to head into the studio and begin recording the second LP, Twitching Tongues is set to play a couple of shows in the early winter months and will be getting weird in the studio sooner than later I assure you, I’m currently working on material for a record with Dylan Ross and I just finished bottling this season’s batch of honey. As for tattooing, you can catch me at Brass City Tattoo most Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays, so please feel free to stop in and get a tattoo or call the shop for an appointment.

I’m extremely grateful that I get to make music, travel, tattoo and keep bees and I’m thankful for everyone and everything that these things have given me in life. I’m also thankful for everyone who listens to the music, goes to the show, gets the tattoo and/or enjoys the honey. If any of the stuff about me mentioned above is new to you, follow the links and check it all out!

Until next time…

The Tour Report (Europe 2018)

Twitching Tongues 2018 European tour was mildly wild. Within the first 24 hours the airline lost all of our luggage (it eventually showed up) and our first vehicle broke down.

Cayle, Colin and Gabe (our merch guy/professional photographer) relaxing in the first van that we had, moments after it broke down 1 hour into our drive to the first show. 😂🤣😂

Taylor and I decided to make the best of the situation and change our strings whilst waiting for another vehicle to pick us up.

 We were thrilled about it...

Shout out to our driver Art. Here he is frantically trying to figure out what to do at a rest area in Germany. I’m sure he’s happy to be away from us.

Once we got everything sorted out we went on to play a bunch of sick shows, eat a lot of truck stop food (Frikandel forever), sleep in a lot of weird places and/or situations, see some old friends, have a few mental breakdowns (🤷🏻‍♂️), see some cool stuff, and not sleep.

Obligatory vegan chili, a staple of European touring. Even if you specifically request in your contract that there is “no vegan chili” backstage, rest assured you will in fact get vegan chili.

Wacky Tattoo Hi-Jinx

My friend Justin has been getting tattooed by me at Brass City Tattoo quite a bit over the last year and I've gotten to do some really cool stuff, so when he asked me if I would reproduce an old tattoo design based on his father's tattoo I was psyched, but there was a twist... Follow me now... His father had an appointment with Jeff Lambert to get the tattoo covered up, so Justin made an appointment for the same day and time as his father to get the tattoo that his father had, but was going to be in the process of getting covered up and his father had no idea! I KNOW RIGHT?!?! THIS IS CRAZY!!! Thank you Justin for having a cool idea and getting a cool tattoo!

I'm home from tour! (But not for long)

I just got home from not one, but THREE  awesome tours. Twitching Tongues did a U.S. run with Hatebreed, Crowbar and The Acacia Strain, then we went on to do a short headlining run down the East Coast w/ True Love and Vamachara. After that I had one whole day off at home and then headed to Boston for a couple of days of rehearsal with Wear Your Wounds whom I then travelled to Europe with for a string of dates leading up to the Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, NLD.

I had a great time even though I was sick as a dog for most of the Hatebreed run... So gross. I saw a ton of old friends and got to play a bunch of old songs with Hatebreed every night on that leg of the tour. A few nights Jamey tested my muscle memory by throwing a few songs at me that I definitely hadn't played in almost 10 years but I think I did ok, no train wrecks! It's always great to see Crowbar play, especially for 2 weeks in a row! They also played at the Roadburn Festival, performing "Odd Fellows Rest" in it's entirety... THAT was awesome to see live! The headline run was great too, especially since we got to play United Blood Fest in Richmond, VA. That was a great hang out and an unbelievable show! Shout out to all the bands that played, especially Death Threat and Madball, it was great to get to catch up with those guys. Wear Your Wounds did a few shows with Heretoir from Germany and Stomach Earth which is a solo project of Mike from WYW/The Red Chord. All of the shows leading up to Roadburn were great and we really appreciate everyone checking out Wear Your Wounds whenever we come to town seeing as it really is a brand new band. Once we got to Tilburg some of the band had a couple of days off. Jake had the honor of curating the event this year, so between that, Converge playing 2 sets, WYW playing a set and doing a live art collaberation with Thomas Hooper, he was DEFINITELY not getting a day off. Mike had a set with Stomach Earth as well as WYW and Adam was playing an acoustic Cave In set with Stephen Brodsky as well as the WYW set so I ended up getting a little unexpected mini vacation in the Netherlands! I hung out at the Grass Factory every morning and then walked over to the fest and watched sets from Crowbar, Mutoid Man, Converge, Jonathan Hulton, Stephen Brodsky & Adam McGrath, Stomach Earth, All Pigs Must Die and Godflesh. The Wear Your Wounds set felt really good and I had a great time playing the show, it was a really awesome way to end damn near 6 weeks straight on the road!

Now I have about a month home before I head off to Europe AGAIN, but this time with Twitching Tongues and Vein and THEN we both hit the U.S.A. with Code Orange until mid July. I'll post all the dates ASAP!

On the road again...

Tour officialy starts tomorrow but I'm headed to Boston so I can hang out with Hatebreed and Dropkick Murphys tonight, then I'm hitching a ride in my old house a.k.a. the Hatebreed bus to Syracuse for the first date of the Hatebreed/Crowbar/The Acacia Strain/Twitching Tongues tour, immediately followed by a Twitching Tongues headlining run down the East Coast with True Love and Vamachara, THEN I meet up with my friends in Wear Your Wounds for string of dates across Europe with Heretoir and Stomach Earth!

Buy the ticket, take the ride...

See you soon!

GAINING PURPOSE THROUGH PASSIONATE HATRED OUT NOW!!!

Today marks the official release of the new Twitching Tongues record "Gaining Purpose Through Passionate Hatred" on Metal Blade Records . In 2015 I got an email from Taylor Young asking if I'd be interested in playing guitar with the band for an upcoming tour, I said yes to the tour and by the end of our 3rd phone conversation I joined the band. It's almost 3 years later and we made a new record that I'm very proud of. Thank you Taylor, Colin, Cayle and Alec, I'm excited to play these songs live and I'm proud to be a member of Twitching Tongues... I'm also glad I checked my email that fateful day. The album is available worldwide and streaming on your preferred digital platform. We will be on tour with Hatebreed, Crowbar and The Acacia Strain March 16th-29th and then we're doing a headlining run down the East Coast March 30th-April 8th, hope to see you there!

GAINING PURPOSE VIDEO

Check out the new Twitching Tongues video for the song "Gaining Purpose" off of the album "Gaining Purpose Through Passionate Hatred" which comes out THIS FRIDAY March 9th on Metal Blade Records! The video was filmed & edited by our good friend and traveling companion Gabe "The Pigeon" Becerra whilst we were on tour with Hatebreed this past December.
